music LAUGHTER and
HOPE: an excerpt
|
Dr. Ursula Matulonis, the oncologist who
treated Sandy, spoke at our fundraiser, Music,
Laughter and Hope on May 23rd. An excerpt:
In many ways, The Studio and Dana-Farber are a lot
alike. The Studio, as you all know, provides confidence,
empowerment, and hope to women who shop there. The
clothing and accessories that are available at The
Studio are chosen based upon research and hard work on
the part of Sandy, Ilene, and Marcie. They provide
expert advice to women and make their recommendations in
a individualized and tailored manner. Sandy, Ilene and
Marcie know that no two women are alike, and their
message of inspiration and celebration of the individual
is here tonight and is found everyday in their
store.
At the Dana-Farber, our mission is to find better
and curative treatments for cancer and to provide
expert, individualized treatment recommendations to men
and women with cancer. Our mission is anchored in our
basic science labs that provide the building blocks for
new and curative therapies.
In the Women’s Cancer Program, my colleagues and
I work collaboratively with women with breast and
gynecologic cancers to empower them and to give them
hope to live and savor their lives.
The Studio and the Dana-Farber tonight in this
collaboration are a powerful team that inspire hope and
empowerment in the lives of countless women.
